Static electricity +++ Is it the weather ?

I keep getting strong static shocks, my clothing is clinging and my hair has gone weird.

Is it the very cold weather, the constant heating or what ?

I think it's the combination of dehydration and dry skin, and that could be down to the additional heating?

Me too! Just got an electric shock off the kitchen sink. 😳

Yes, the cold weather makes the air very dry, which makes static much more likely. We live near a tram line and they are making flashes where they touch the electric line.

Glad its not just me....im getting numerous zaps off the dog today!

Yes, it's the cold weather. It makes the humidity in the air very low, currently our humidity is around 37 (out of 100) in the Midlands, in the summer it's often up to 60 or sometimes more.

Low humidity creates static very easily....when I lived in Scandinavia, the winter humidity could go down to 25 or so, and at that level we got electric shocks from ordinary door handles (many were made out of wood to prevent this) and even just opening the fridge door.
