You know it's probably more than a cough/cold when you're proud of yourself for loading the dishwasher!

Hi,

Anyone with me? Lots I suspect.

Caught some winter bug, which I initially hoped would be a 24hr thing - had all the signs, but then has gradually sucked every ounce of energy out of me and I feel AWFUL 😖

Cough, sore chest, streaming cold, dizzy, sick. I hope this is out the way for Christmas, but it's showing no signs of buggering off.

It just took me 20 minutes to stack the dishwasher and honestly, I almost cried with a mixture of exhaustion and a sad sense or achievement! 😬

It's not covid btw.

Anyway, for all those with one of these lingering nasty bugs, wishing you a speedy recovery!

I have this, I changed the bedding in 3 stages yesterday and felt so bloody proud of myself, even if I did then need to climb straight back in it!

toomuchlaundry · 16/12/2022 15:01

I have it too. Had a number of virtual meetings yesterday. Had to have a nap between them!

PurpleWisteria1 · 16/12/2022 15:04

I’ve just had it. It’s still lingering 10 days later. Flu 22 I’m calling it. So many people seem to have the same thing! Horrible shivers and temp too

Had it for 3 weeks. Finally gave in and went to the Dr's. Diagnosed with Bronchial Pneumonia.
Hope you start to feel better soon

hellswelshy · 16/12/2022 15:07

Yep same here. Unpacked the dishwasher & changed my bed sheets - only so I could get into bed feeling happy as dirty sheets upset me 😀Feeling dreadful, no energy, blocked nose but then sporadic runny nose, tickly painful cough... and weirdly, a runny eye!

Abraxan · 16/12/2022 15:35

I know that feeling.

Been I'll in and off over the last month. Ended up off work for a couple of days a fortnight ago with some bug. Started to feel better but was still tired and run down. Now missing my last two days of school (all the fun bits including the staff get together) as I now have a chest infection and a course of antibiotics. Feel utterly miserable tbh. Hurt all over, probably because of the constant coughing, so tired but I cough when I lay down to sleep. Too hot one minute, then too cold.

I went downstairs to make myself a sandwich and a hot drink for lunch (bit eaten properly for a couple of days and have started to feel hungry today) and it felt like a massive challenge.

Had to sit down after going down two flights of stairs.
Coming back up to bed afterwards was a definite challenge!

Confusedteacher · 16/12/2022 15:38

Me too! Just staggered downstairs to tidy kitchen and put dishwasher on so the kids don’t
come home from school to a messy house. It all felt a bit much so I’m now back in bed!

MardyMincepie · 16/12/2022 16:04

This is me, I’m just over two weeks. Definite improvement but I am exhausted, I did have a flu jab and it doesn’t feel like flu it feel like the worst cold ever sort of in between a cold and flu.

MardyMincepie · 16/12/2022 16:06

@hellswelshy you probably have sinusitis, I had it and could hardly breathe for five days and had to mouth breathe only which made my throat sore. Steam your face often. Consider buying saline nasal spray to decongest your nose.

hellswelshy · 16/12/2022 16:46

Thanks MardyMincepie - is the weepy eye a symptom of sinusitis then? I've just used my nasal spray which does seem to have helped. Word of warning to all you other ill folk, Nightnurse taken last night did help me sleep but I felt so drowsy & bunged up this morning I'm not sure it was worth it...

SaltyPopcornIcecream · 16/12/2022 19:57

Sympathy to all the other sufferers.

@hellswelshy , oh Nightnurse is weird! I took it once years a go and yes, it helped me sleep, but in a knocked out kind of way. Felt even worse the next day. Kind of like flu mixed in with a hangover 🤢😬
