Whitby Local Weather uodate, anyone live nearby?

We’re supposed to be heading to Whitby this weekend but with the snow this is looking less likely.

I can’t find any recent updates on the roads, does anyone live in the Whitby/Scarborough area that can shed some light on the snow and road situation please? We obviously don’t want to travel if it’s dangerous but need to cancel plans if needs be as others are travelling to us first so we need to make a decision!

We’re coming from South Yorkshire way.

We drove there on Monday (from West Yorkshire), missed the worst of the snow and ice but the FOG was horrendous! Extremely poor visibility made it a really scary drive, especially as it got darker earlier. It had all started to ice / frost over as we were leaving and it was very much one of those grit your teeth stare straight ahead and don't even dare talk kind of drives back 😖

Family there say roads are bad and it's snowing on and off still (this was last night)

Im in pickering at the moment. Haven’t been all the way up to Whitby but we’ve had no snow since Wednesday night. Still very cold so the snow that’s fallen hasn’t melted but the main roads are pretty clear now. I reckon you’ll be ok!
