My son has a Pixelbook, bought a few years ago. He's begging us to buy him a new laptop for Christmas, but we haven't got vast amounts of spare cash. He says that lots of his favourite games (e.g. Farming Simulator) don't work on laptops with touchscreens or on Pixelbooks. His laptop isn't working brilliantly anyway so we're starting to have some sympathy for his plight.

Please can anyone advise on a suitable laptop that ISN'T touchscreen and ISN'T a Pixelbook/Chromebook, so would allow him to play the games he likes. He made one suggestion but it was £750!! We don't mind whether we buy new or reconditioned, although I don't know anything about how/where to source a trustworthy reconditioned laptop.

Thank you!

Yes you need a decent laptop for games. DS' laptop wasn't working great and we looked at replacing it but it worked out cheaper (sort of as we found some old gift vouchers) to buy a games console just for the games and tidy up what was on the laptop predominantly for homework.

We have found the Amazon reconditioned stuff reliable.
