Do I need something to make this present work - Wax Melts

I've been given a gift at work today, but I'm confused (its easily done).
I've got a beautiful tin with "Wax melts" written on the front. I thought these were candles, but how do I light them? Or am I supposed to have something to burn them in? Can I use a ceramic bowl?

You need a burner. Ceramic ones very cheap - Asda, B&M. Melt goes in the top and tea light under neath.
I have an electric one though from Amazon - safe than a candle one, but more expensive though.

So, I need to buy tea lights and a burner? I've been given half a present?

Yes, as pp said, you need a burner. Perhaps it was assumed you'd already have one?

You have indeed been given half a present, that’s not great! They must have assumed you have burners and candles at home maybe?

RightOnTheEdge · 15/12/2022 17:31

Yes you have been given half a present. I did it for a secret Santa one year but I gave a burner, tealights and melts.

twinmum2022 · 15/12/2022 17:31

How do you not know what a wax melt it?

It's not a half gift... it's just a gift. Hopefully they won't bother next time as you sound horrifically ungrateful.

They don't know because they've never had one and clearly don't own a burner!

Just the wax melts is a weird and silly present. The OP now has to buy a burner and tea lights to use the gift.

They must have assumed you already had a burner. Google wax melt burner, you put them in the top and light a little candle underneath. The wax melt melts and releases scents.

Thank you for the helpful information.

TwinMum because I've never come across one before? Sorry I don't know everything about everything. Personally, I try to give gifts that can be used by the recipient. Not that presume access to things essential to using the gift.

You could buy a burner and tea lights.... or you could put it in a cupboard until next year's Secret Santa and offload it 😏

CrapBucket · 15/12/2022 17:38

P.S. wax melts sound like a right faff. Candles are a lot easier!

formulatingAresponse · 15/12/2022 21:07

Just regift them
