I think I've got Strep

I've been feeling really crap for a few days - maybe a week or so. Bad headaches, cough, aching etc. and in the last few days, a sore throat. It's snowballed into a really, really sore neck, my ears feel weird and my jaw is starting to hurt.

I've checked my throat just now - I've got a furry white tongue (how did I not notice this?) and white blobs on my tonsils.

I'm going to ring GP in the morning, but DD1 has already started complaining of a sore throat.

I have fairly pronounced health anxiety, that I'm trying to deal with, and I need some sleep, but I'm also feverish and starting to worry about my DC - they've been around me the whole time.

Does this sound like Strep? My Covid test was negative.

Do you have dots on your tongue that look a bit like the pips on the surface of a strawberry? Thats a give away for strep. Sounds like a good idea to see the GP tomorrow. In the mean time hot drinks help to reduce bacterial numbers in your mouth, so sip sip sip on tea, hot water etc. Most cases of step are a pain in the A but nothing more and amoxicillin will sort it

Thanks for replying, I appreciate the advice. This sounds disgusting, but I've got blobs and dots and things all over it. I clean my tongue every morning and night, when I brush my teeth - I can't believe I missed this going on. I must have been on autopilot.

I'm drinking organic white tea, fennel tea and liquorice tea on a loop!

Get some rest - tomorrow you'll probably need antibiotics for the throat . It may or may not be strep but if your kids develop it then you'll be on the ball and they'll get antibiotics too. Stay calm.

Fwiw Dd had strep throat a few years ago - she got really suddenly unwell, like literally fine at 11, very sick at 12. Got one dose of antibiotics into her that day and she was 70% better the next day.

Ps sometimes gargling salt water helps
