Ear infection?

My right ear keeps having stabbing pains inside it, yesterday I was dizzy most of the day and now today the left side of my face is red hot and flushed !! Anyone know if this sounds like an ear infection or just standard virus ?

You should go to get it checked out, it sounds quite possible.

In the meantime I find laying my bad ear on a hot water bottle does wonders to soothe it. Once I woke up to find pus had come out of my bad ear overnight and it was feeling much better.

Good shout on the hot water bottle I've already got one on the go.

It's my hot face that's strange as it's the opposite side of the ear that's hurting

I remember a doctor once explaining to me that the ears are connected by tube to the tear ducts in the eyes and the top of the nose so there could feasibly be the same infection in different areas.... I think my last ear infection was a respiratory infection that had travelled up.

Sounds exactly like my little ones ear infections, see if someone will have a look down your ear with a torch. If it's red looking, it's likely an infection although I find it does get waxier when infected so harder to see/tell!

Thank you !! Ear is still stabbing so along with the dizziness think it's safe to safe it's an ear infection... I already have a call with the gp today so might see if they will give me some antibiotics, are ear infections bacterial?

I know for kids certainly they don't routinely offer antibiotics for ear infections now, and instead advise you to let them clear on their own. Not sure about adults. You can only ask i guess.

@DisneyPrincesss oh really ! Ear infections can be so painful aswell. Yeah no harm in asking is there. It's so weird because I've had a really warm leg aswell weirdly !!

I know 😭 i took my son with one and was sent home to manage the pain unless it got worse and right enough it confirms that approach online.

Oh poor kid !!

I worked in a nursing home where one of the residents ear infections turned into meningitis !! So you'd have thought antibiotics would be standard with the possibility of that happening !
