What does my nursery charge per day? Help me make sense of the numbers please!

I've been trying to work out what my nursery charges per day and can't figure it out.

I pay 1140 per month, which is for 4 days per week, 8-6, which is listed as 170 hours.

I'm absolutely hopeless with numbers - can someone please break this down for me?

Do they split the costs equally across each month?
do you need to work out your yearly cost & divide by 12?

I think so, I pay the same each month regardless of the amount of days per month.

I would say £65.76 per day on the assumption that you pay the same amount each month regardless of closures. But my maths isn’t the best!

Anyway, my nursery charges £97 a day so I’m jealous.

How many weeks of the year are they open or do you pay for?

My kids' nursery is only open for 52 weeks of the year, but they charge it the same each month, so if your nursery works on that same basis, I did:

1140 x 12 = 13,680 (that's your annual cost)

Then divided that by 51 to give your weekly cost = 268.24

Then divide by 4 to give your daily cost as your DC does 4 days a week = 67.06 per day.

If your nursery is open for 52 weeks, just change the second bit of the calculation to 52.
