Warm but thin socks. Do they exist?

I've got cold feet but the boots I wear most days don't have enough room in them for my thick hiking socks. Are there any options which are warmer than just cotton/normal socks without being too bulky?

My OH swears by merino wool socks - they are a bit pricey but well worth it apparently. And nowhere near as thick as hiking socks. Alternatively you could try pop sock type things under your standard socks - that used to work for me when I was riding horses in my 20s! Know a lot of people who wear opaque tights under their jodhpurs for warmth

I have some "Sumptuously Soft™ Thermal Socks" from Marks and Spencer, really warm, but still thin and pretty.

Cashmere, I had a pair as a Christmas gift last year. I have no idea how much they cost.

Uniqlo sell Heat tech socks that are warm and quite thin.

Silk socks are surprisingly warm.

I got some bamboo (!) Socks in the post as a promotional free sample a couple years ago, they are super soft and thin and really warm. Keep meaning to buy more, they are really the best socks ever!

I would have said merino as I'd be surprised if cashmere washes well.

Turtle Doves cashmere socks. Not cheap though

I live in a very cold country and all base layers including socks are merino wool

I like knee length merino wool socks made by Falke.
