Children’s book - Snipe

I have a memory on the top of my brain, hoping someone can help.

I have a feeling it’s either a picture book, Roald Dahl or something from the 80s Storyteller magazines.

All I can remember is someone trying to hunt a snipe which is shy and elusive. That’s it! Can anyone help?

I looked this up. Maybe it's "The Snipe Hunter" by Amanda Spiers Sanford?
The illustration style looks similar to the art on Dahl's work!
Hopefully this jogs a memory for you!?

thanks but that’s not it. I think the snipe was incidental to the main story. An irritation to one of the main characters that he could never manage to catch one.

It’s not My Family and Other Animals, is it?

It sounds a little like part of the story from the film Up. I can only think of that, sorry

@SkalengeckOrSiegbarste that is exactly it. Can’t believe it was from Up! Haha I was sure it was from a book. Thank you so much!!

I feel oddly proud of myself! I never guess these things! Sorry there isn't a boom for you to read though.
