Anyone else ill just now with possibly flu?

I feel dreadful. Been in bed since the weekend and can barely make it to the toilet. Came on suddenly on Saturday with really bad headache and sore throat and I've been in bed since. Ache all over and have zero energy or appetite. It sucks.

Any suggestions of what I can ask my husband to make me for dinner? I'm not hungry but feel I should eat. Last night it was pancakes with Nutella and banana which was immense but can't face that tonight again...

Chicken soup
Risotto
Spag bol
Mashed potato with beans and cheese

DominoRules · 13/12/2022 18:49

Dippy egg and soldiers - I’ve just made it for both my DC who have something similar

OnlyaMummy · 13/12/2022 18:51

I am! Went to bed with an odd throat. Woke up sneezing today, by 4 I'm shivering and have body aches and feel generally awful. Hope you're feeling better soon xx

Get well soon! I've had it since Thursday, it's worked its way through other family members that don't live in the same household and I kept away from the last few weeks but dropped shopping off for them. With adult dd & sil it was covid, for Dm & I not sure what it is as we've had no tests. I've made it to the sofa today and I've eaten soup (the fresh pots from supermarket) and satsumas and drank hot juice. That's the most I've had in several days.

IhateJan22 · 13/12/2022 18:57

I thought I was hungover but now on day3, started with sickness and now got a chesty cough and sore throat, eaten tomato soup and a banana today.

livealittlemore · 13/12/2022 19:05

Me! Had a cough on and off on Saturday but felt fine...couldn't sleep the whole night with shivers and body ache...just started so suddenly...was in bed the whole of Sunday and majority of yesterday... only feeling slightly better today...the cough has become a chesty Cough now. Haven't felt like eating anything since Sunday. But my husband made the most amazing spicy chicken soup with chilly & ginger, so good for the throat...and that was the only thing I could taste really...everything else tasted really bad. Had a chicken Noodle Soup today - fresh one from the supermarket, with an egg on top...go with your favourite soup and drink warm water with ginger honey and lime for the throat. Hope you feel better soon!

junipermarten · 13/12/2022 19:13

Soup does sound amazing. I might have to send DH out for some.

Sorry there are others feeling as rotten as me. My eldest has it too though not as bad luckily, I think he's enjoying being off school though. He couldn't believe I had pancakes for dinner last night as obviously that's a breakfast meal. I told him anything goes when you're ill. He took full advantage of this and sent his Dad to McDonald's for his lunch today 😂

We both tested -ve for covid so it's some other nasty virus.

Yep, temperature topped out at 40.2, full body aches, slept when I could and sweated/froze for over 3 days.

50plusandfabulous · 13/12/2022 19:17

Me too, terrible cough , 3 negative covid tests, completely lost my voice. Ive been received anti biotics as I am coughing up green gunge, but they make me terribly nauseous. Just having honey and lemon in hot water as we speak.
I’ve had a couple days off work which I never do, but feel really wiped out, not great with so much to do before Xmas….

Sallycinnamum · 13/12/2022 19:19

Yep exactly how I'm feeling at the moment but it's covid not the flu.

Been in bed since Saturday and still feel awful.

Laying the blame squarely at last week's work xmas party!

PeopleAreTheWorst · 13/12/2022 19:20

Yep I posted on general health about this last week. It's awful.

lugeforlife · 13/12/2022 19:24

Yes us here. Started with dd on Friday. I was a bit sniffly until Sunday night when I had the most horrific temp which has just broken this afternoon. Headaches, chesty cough and blocked nose. Dh came down with it last night so only dd2 left to go and she doesn't look great.

I've already told work I'm not in tomorrow because I just feel wiped out (and have a bad habit of 'pushing through' and not getting properly better). I would suggest food but I am totally off it. I've had a Welsh cake and a Horlicks if that helps?

MrsH497 · 13/12/2022 19:26

As sorry as I am you're all poorly I'm kinda glad. Tuesday/Wednesday I had what I assumed was a horrific migraine, which then progressed on Thursday to shivering and a fever.
DH on Friday/Saturday came down with a throat/cough/headache/temp felt bloody awful. Shivers and fever. I've now got that part and my temps back.

DD we were concerned had scarlet fever but it's tonsillitis and she feels rough. Bless her was sick yesterday, lethargic, today actually complained of sore throat and had a really high temp.

Hope everyone feels better soon x

Hazey19 · 13/12/2022 19:29

Yep same in our house too. My eldest is quite poorly but also loving being school. There’s a lot off at his school actually. Get well soon everyone x

junipermarten · 13/12/2022 20:29

Misery does love company.

Thank you for sharing your similar tales of illness woes. At least we should all be fitting fit for Christmas, albeit a little behind schedule.

The headache was horrendous! Much different to a usual headache.

I was roasting earlier so asked DH to turn off the radiator in my room but he said it was hardly on... I'm back to being freezing so back on with the oodie for another 10mins til I'm sweltering again.

RitaSueandBobtwo · 13/12/2022 20:41

Would love some homemade chicken and veg soup but DH isn’t making me any.

I can’t really be bothered with food want more drinks. I’m alternating between feeling freezing mainly and occasionally too warm just had lots of drinks fruit juice, cold drinks, lemsip and ice lollies to cool my throat.

Remainiac · 13/12/2022 20:42

Not me but almost everyone I know is down with it.

RenoDakota · 13/12/2022 20:48

Yes, me. Feel like shit. Achy, sore throat, dizzy, coughing. Haven't taken a day off sick for years, apart from Covid, but had to today.
Feel a bit nauseous / not hungry but am sort of craving carbs. Had toast and marmalade this morning and toast and marmite this afternoon.

MrsH497 · 13/12/2022 20:49

@junipermarten yes I couldn't move my eyeballs it was horrific. I said to my DM it was the worst "migraine" I'd had for ages.

The shivering and chill are ridiculous as well I had a hoody and pjs on in bed and said to DH (before he got it) that our room was bloody Baltic

BearSoFair · 13/12/2022 20:52

Mine is covid Sad I had a supernoodle sandwich for 'dinner' tonight Blush even eating a proper meal felt like it would be too much effort!

Cherryana · 13/12/2022 20:56

Me, I am feeling really sorry for myself. I am so hot and achey and my throat and head hurt. I hate being ill.

I have had veg soup and a cheese pitta.
Muller light cinnamon bun yogurt.

LolaAnn12 · 14/12/2022 14:34

This is week 3 for me, don't think I've felt so unwell for a long time .

ModeWeasel · 14/12/2022 14:40

YES! Since last week.

Headache, physically barely functioning, eyes hurt, sneezing, cough, shivery, feel utterly shit.

Rarely get ill!

Heartstopper · 14/12/2022 14:45

I've found my people! For me, it is a stomach bug. Thought it was food poisoning as dh and I ate out at the weekend and both came down with it within hours of each other, but after 2 days, our 2 adult sons came down with it last night. It has been horrendous, the worst illness I recall catching. I'm glad you feel up to some food OP. I am still struggling to eat a piece of dried toast I started an hour ago, and I'm only eating that as I haven't eaten in 2 and a half days. :(
But it has cheered me a little to read this thread and realise I am not the only one suffering.
