Why don't we let deliveries be marked as lower priority?

I'm just wondering with all the postal/delivery backlogs why we don't let things be marked as lower priority/not needed till January or in general through the year? I just ordered something on Amazon that's really not urgent but it was on offer; things like my order will be caught up with people's gifts. Maybe they could even offer a small discount for that option.

You can do that with Amazon? It's usually only a couple of days later with them and they are tending to use their own couriers more and more rather than Royal Mail

A lot of places already do ASOS for example give you 20% off your next order.

You can choose Amazon day delivery and they will collate your orders and deliver them all on a Tuesday here. Other days somewhere else I assume. They used to give you a £1 credit to be spent on online content. Music/ Films but they dont anymore.

I order my dog food as soon as I open my last bag so I know I won’t need it for about 3 weeks. I was offered the opportunity to mark the delivery as low priority, which I did, it only arrived one day later than usual so didn’t really make any difference to anyone.

Pet supplies shop zooplus allows you to click that your delivery is less urgent, so it allows them to plan better and reduce carbon footprint. I think your idea is very good. We don't need all stuff next day sharp.

Theteapotsbrokenspout · 13/12/2022 12:02

Yes, that was zooplus I ordered with @xogossipgirlxo , as I said, it wasn’t much different from their usual delivery time.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 13/12/2022 12:05

Like a '3rd class' type thing?

ClaudiusTheGod · 13/12/2022 12:05

Because we are paying for a better service than that?

Plumbear2 · 13/12/2022 12:07

Or maybe wait untill January before you order the non essential items so they can clear the backlog.

Yes, I haven't noticed any difference too.

The offer would be over then, though.
