Which Switch game?

I've bought my DDs (11 and 13) a Switch for Christmas. I'm looking for a recommendation for a game that they would enjoy! It came with Super Mario Kart, but I thought one more that they can play together would be great. Had a quick look online but would much rather go on personal recommendations on what yours have enjoyed!

Thank you in advance 😊😊

Splatoon is fun but I think requires a paid subscription.

Animal Crossing if they’re into world building.

I’ve enjoyed playing Yoshi’s Crafted World with my youngest but might be considered a bit easy and babyish for the older.

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is fab!

ElfDragon · 13/12/2022 10:45

What do they like doing?

the Lego games are good fun and can be good value if you find them on sale.

mario party is a good family game, and the sports ones can be fun.

beware that animal crossing can cause issues - only one island can be chosen per switch, not per user profile, and one profile has to be the main representative and can’t be switched easily. It’s still a cause of resentment between dd2 and ds, nearly 2 years on 😂

This is fab!! Thank you all so much. When I looked online there were about 20 pages of games to go through aaarrgghh!!

Switch sports is fab for multiplayer (if you ever played wii sports it’s just a newer better version of that) and it will get them up and moving. Also Minecraft can be 2 player and my 11 year old and his sister love playing it together.

The just dance games are fun if your dds are into dancing. Mario party is great for playing together. Or super smash bros is one my dc play quite a bit.

I would also recommend mario party if they want to play together. It has mini games and a board game setting which is good fun.

If they like football, fifa is obviously a good option.

I loved Zelda Breath of the Wild.
It’s fantastic.
It is expensive but worth every penny it.
Have a look at some game footage and reviews on you tube.
There is some fighting/combat but also lots of puzzles, foraging, hunting, cooking.
I don’t particularly like the fighting part but love the talking to the villagers and completing the mini quests.

Sunnydayz · 13/12/2022 11:08

I just googled Zelda breath of the wild to make sure it was age appropriate and have seen the long awaited sequel is due out next year. Very excited!

Cotswoldmama · 13/12/2022 11:08

Mario party is great for multi players. Kirby games are good too.

Zelda BOTW review

Sorry to go on, it’s got me excited!

PenguinTattoo · 13/12/2022 11:27

Overcooked - stupidly fun, but it will be loud, lots of shouting and laughter.

Oh that's a good point I forgot that about Animal Crossing.

@Ekerty72 go for a lego games one - they're all good but the Star Wars and Batman ones are particularly good. Single or two player.

Ekerty72 · 13/12/2022 11:47

Thank you all so much, I've decided Mario Party, but will look at the others as they have birthdays in the new year!
They will love it 😊😊😊👏👏

Yes, I agree with others, Zelda Breath of the Wild, it’s the best game I’ve ever played!

yoshiblue · 13/12/2022 11:54

I think the Lego ones are a bit crap TBH, we have a couple of them.

If you want one they can play together I'd look at Switch Sports or Mario vs Rabbids Party (lots of fun mini games) better than Mario Party Superstars which is around a board game and a bit slower.

Zelda is amazing, but more of a solo game, or co-op rather than fun against each other.

Occitane · 13/12/2022 11:54

Also, Pikmin is a lot of fun, with lovely graphics. I think it’s Pikmin 3.

SunflowerSmith · 13/12/2022 12:02

There are always games on sale on the Nintendo shop that you download directly to the Switch, even the big titles have big discounts so if there's one they want it's worth waiting for it to go on Sale.

Zelda is a phenomenal game but is single player, if they want coop then Rayman Legends and Overcooked 2 are good fun.

Also a lot of the smaller titles have great coop play, the Trine games are good, Unravel 2, Snipperclips, Death Squared if they like puzzle games.
Often the less known title are reduced to under £5 and have hours of play.

There are tons of good games for it.
