Fun places to stay off M1 (Doncaster to London)

We were supposed to get the train to london with DC (aged 5) this weekend but the strikes mean that can't happen and we will have to drive.

Can anyone recommend a place to stay Friday night that we could stop off on way down (we will be taking M1 from Sheffield to London Kings Cross)

Does the time of your journey mean you need to stop over as otherwise it's only about 3 1/2hr drive isn't it?

I was going to ask the same thing, I regularly drive from Nottingham to London, I appreciate it’s about an extra hour but I wouldn’t stop overnight for a 3 hour journey. Are you driving to King’s Cross itself?

Are the tubes on strike too? As usually I’d stay with the kids just outside London and tube or bus it in. Where are you parking?

Leicester? There's the space museum there which is very cool. But my geography is terrible lol

Sorry I meant to sleep over. I know that part of the drive says 3.5 hours but with Xmas and the strikes there is no way it will be so timing means it would be better if we could sleep over on the way

I read it as somewhere off the M1 between Doncaster and London? It's just a suggestion , I'm sure they can ignore if it's not relevant.
