Secret Santa - What do I buy the new girl in the office whom I know zero about her?

I think I pulled the short straw in the office Secret Santa this year. I got the new girl in the office whom I barely know anything about what she likes....what do I get as a random gift for a 22 year old woman whom I know nothing about for a £10 max gift?

How about a voucher for a cafe that's close to your office?

Runnerduck34 · 13/12/2022 07:36

M&S glittery gin,
Bath bombs from lush
Hotel chocolat
Generic things basically!
So do a nice gift you'd be happy to receive and hope she likes it.
Or you could ask a colleague who perhaps knows her better if they have any ideas?

Following, I also have a 22 year old to buy for. I was okay initially but I've thought of a few things and stumped.

A cafe voucher would have been a great idea but the cafe went out of business end of the summer. A new one is opening in the complex in January but they aren't even set up yet to even enquire about a gift voucher.

I was about to ask this very question - cafe voucher is brilliant thank you!

Luellie · 13/12/2022 07:40

Chocolate is reasonably safe I think. Does she have any social media profiles you can look at? I've had many a gift idea by looking at what companies they follow on Instagram

GladysGeorgina · 13/12/2022 07:40

Scratchcard and some choccies.

DarkAndDusty · 13/12/2022 07:40

Don't stress, Secret Santa gifts are always random. No one is expecting a hugely personal gift.

Mug
Tea/hot choc
Hot water bottle
Socks
Mitts
Wine
Game
Sweets

Etc

familyissues12345 · 13/12/2022 07:41

I would get a "nice" bar/box of chocolates

MaryMollyPolly · 13/12/2022 07:42

Christmas decoration.

Cherryana · 13/12/2022 07:42

I bought a cake mix in a bottle as my secret Santa contribution- it looks colourful and is quite generic but nice.

familyissues12345 · 13/12/2022 07:43

I drew the short straw a few years ago, new to the company and I got the only male, who also happened to be my boss!

Slimjimtobe · 13/12/2022 07:43

Lipstick 💄

or costa voucher

BCBird · 13/12/2022 07:44

I agree no stress. Fluffy socks and chocs. Job done

stuntbubbles · 13/12/2022 07:45

M&S glittery gin is a good shout, or their colour-change one.

Can you do some recon and figure out is she a makeuppy person, fashionable, bookish? E.g.:
£10 ASOS voucher
Nail varnishes
£10 Waterstones voucher
Persephone Books novel or other beautiful book

Don’t get the poor woman a Christmas decoration or socks!

Snoopystick · 13/12/2022 07:47

Reed diffuser, body shop hand cream

BlackeyedSusan · 13/12/2022 07:50

Hot water bottle?

Warm throw from the supermarket?

RocketIceLollie · 13/12/2022 07:50

Cake mix in a bottle or glittery gin sound like good options I have to say.

I want to avoid an envelope with a gift voucher thinking about it really. Would at least like for her to have a gift as such I think.

Mabelface · 13/12/2022 07:51

Nice hand cream in a tin
Fluffy socks
Burts Bees do a lovely hand cream and lip balm set

Slimjimtobe · 13/12/2022 07:51

Go for the glittery gin !!

Westfacing · 13/12/2022 07:51

A nice mug for the office tea/coffee - mind you I've found a lot of young people don't do tea or coffee, so maybe a water bottle

Please, not a candle!

Clymene · 13/12/2022 07:52

Really nice hand cream from l'occitaine

FermisLeftFoot · 13/12/2022 07:54

I’d definitely go with generic like a mug with some chocolate or maybe some socks or yea hand cream - a winter warmer type gift!

HelloViroids · 13/12/2022 07:55

Glittery gin or hotel chocolat are things she can easily regift if she doesn’t use them, so I’d go for one of those. But if you can ask the person who sits nearest her/works most with her if she’s mentionned any interests, I’d also try that!

PriamFarrl · 13/12/2022 07:55

What kind of work do you do? Could it be something like note books, pens, post it’s?
