Ten minute tasks

Life has been insanely busy recently and all the little jobs have been neglected. I am struggling with anxiety and feel like it's all getting too much.
So today I am planning a lot of little tasks to get stuff done. All the stuff you can't see like overflowing cupboards and drawers hidden behind doors and breaking out of drawers, gift wrapping while no one is home, filing household paperwork etc etc
I'm posting here to motivate myself. I will be setting a 10 minute timer and doing as much as I can in that time before my next task. I have meetings online so need to fit in the tasks in the little gaps

Task 1 before I log on to work.....
Clear out the pj drawer stuffed full of mismatched, unworn, too small lounge wear!

Charity bag at the ready
What 10 min task would/could you do today? Inspire me

Sounds like some of them are more than 10 mins. I would like to..

  • check and finish buying presents
  • wrap presents
  • plan meals over Christmas and put the things in my online basket
  • start packing for holiday
  • clean, sort and swap some cupboard
  • toy de clutter
  • hoover the edge of rooms with the tool
  • remove some marks from carpets
  • clean downstairs rugs

clear out the drawer of crap in the kitchen.

find a place for my important paperwork

moved 2 years ago and due to building work we still don’t have a place for everything.

Just sorted drawer. Now realise I only have 2 pairs of functional pjs! Hope Santa brings me some lol
Also squeezed in some bra sorting. So many bras and none are right or comfy so I wear the same ones. Just dumped them all in a bag. I know they are no good to me as I haven't touched them for years. Now I have a half empty drawer! And 2 bags ..1 for waste and one for charity. I even worked up a bit of heat so will keep warm lol

Task 2
File bills etc whilst I log on. 8 am meeting looming.

My whole house is a mess so I'm going to spend today (in between school and preschool pick ups, helping DH with DIY and watching the Nativity) setting a 10 minute timer per room and doing as much as I can in 10mins. Hoping to make a good dent in most rooms this way. Can do the same again for rooms that need it tomorrow although I'll have less time as I'm working tomorrow.

That's my thinking. Little targets. I managed to sort out my paperwork but found a pile of junk that's been waiting for me forever!
I'm finding I am more ruthless with a limited timeframe and just chucking rather than putting it to one side for another timeWink

I like the idea of a list of little jobs, my to do lists normally descend into aspirational lists of redecoration and deep cleaning entire rooms. So my slightly more realistic list for today is:

1)to pack my bag for my overnight work trip on Thursday
2)to sort the mountain of washing upstairs into mine and DH, and to put mine away
3)to call my dad and ask about his Xmas present and order it
4)to unpack the many parcels upstairs and write a list of shopping still needed
5)to change the spare bed
6)to spend 10 mins going through my emails and confirming work bookings for the new year
7)quick grocery shop
8)buy wrapping paper
9)wipe down the kitchen sides
10)to unpack the boot of the car from last week's work trip

I have just fixed a shelf in a cupboard which has been hanging precariously for a few weeks
It took 2 mins! Stupid to think I waited so long and shocking how easy it is to leave these things.
Next task is to get out the stocking gifts for my OH and wrap them up whilst the house is empty. Will do other wrapping another time

Planning to write family cards that will be another 10 min

I have lunch break at 12 so will have 3 ten min slots to do different jobs. I'm eying up the airing cupboard but not sure it's a 10 min thing

You have inspired me, i have emptied my junk box, full of stuff that has moved house twice and lives in a cupboard in the kitchen. a lot of it went back in the box but i have managed to bin a load of stuff including keys that have moved around for years with no know home
