Need a bit of a moan - job interview

I've been applying for jobs (already left old job) and have interviewed at 4 companies now. One rejected me after 3 stages due to being "too experienced, the role wouldn't challenge you" one offered me a role, which I rejected as they came in way under the package I wanted (which I had told the recruiter about very clearly), one is still pending and they've been clear the process still take a while.

The 4th was yesterday. I completed an application, got a call back from their recruitment team and they set up a short initial interview. I was so excited as I love their product, and did lots of prep. The interviewer was 15 minutes late with no apologies, so cut the interview in half but also divulged the the job was not hybrid as they'd said on their ad, but office based. It would require extensive long haul travel (a week a month), and they'd prefer the candidate to be able to relocate to the US.

I really wish they'd have put all of that on the JD - I'd have never applied as I have a family and a 4 year old, and don't want to leave my child that frequently. Just such a waste of my time.

That is ridiculous. not you the company. Good luck with your search. Which sector?

I will join you in that moan!

Two interviews for very similar jobs. They both LOVED me. Their words, not mine. Couldn't stop falling over themselves to tell me thatl

Except one said I was overqualified and the other said I wasn't experienced enough.

Especially hacked off with the overqualified one. If they thought I was overqualified from my application, they should have given me a chance to address that in the interview. I was only going to try to make a good impression! I wasn't going to try and underplay my knowledge.

Bloody annoying to be told how you'd find a role.

@user1494050295 it's leisure and tourism sector.
@thecatsthecats it's so frustrating! They gave their feedback so nicely, but not once did they ask how I'd keep myself challenged or directly ask if I might be too experienced and let me address it.

It's so disheartening and I find it so disrespectful to waste my time like that. At least I know it's a business I don't want to work for, and I won't continue to have them on the pedestal I did (they really are an ultra luxury product that I held in such high esteem before)

I'll join too!

Completed a second interview early last week and still heard nothing, no-one else being interviewed. I hate how long it takes for them to come back! Surely they basically decide pretty much straight after! 😡😡

Yes! It feels like a no win situation.

They could see my experience and achievements from my CV and decided to interview me. Meaning my chances were:

  1. Appear less impressive than my CV. Well, I wasn't going to try to, was I?

  2. Everyone else turns out to be so crap that they choose me anyway. Not in my control.

I even ask in every interview if there's anything about my experience or aptitude for the job that they have any concerns about. Perfect opportunity for them to say what you said - "You seem very experienced/why this role/how would you stay challenged".

Grr.
