I am looking to relocate in Mansfield UK or Sutton in Ashfield UK. Just would like to know that what is the % of Muslims in this place and also regarding the Halal food stores. Guidance required.

Another one or did you post last week?

The mining areas and in particular Sutton in Ashfield/Mansfield are very poor, predominantly white areas. Its run down and quite frankly grotty with some significant social issues. Nationalist Racism is an issue in North Notts and Derbyshire (although slightly diluted now since there is now a massive Polish community in the area). I'd think again if I were you.

SMFZAIDI · 13/12/2022 05:59

@Ciri no I did not post last week I am new to this platform, further I heard that there is some good amount of Muslims but if you are a local and you probably know well.

There are some nicer parts to Mansfield but its a relative term.. Berry Hill is ok and more diverse but the properties there are larger and much more expensive.

Harlow Wood and Ravenshead are villages between Mansfield and Nottingham and are very nice (but significantly more expensive)

Unless you are working in Mansfield (perhaps at the hospital?) then you'd be better off in Nottingham which is very multicultural.

You should research the area carefully. There is still so much deprivation in the ex mining communities even 40 years on.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 13/12/2022 06:17

Assuming you drive and have a car, you would be better living closer to Derby or Nottingham if being in a Muslim community is important to you

SMFZAIDI · 13/12/2022 06:25

@MissAtomicBomb1 not important at all but yes I just wanted to know this as having Halal food is important.

I'm local and you would be better off in Nottingham than Mansfield.

Almost zero, I lived there for 25 years, so you’ve been lied to. It’s a deeply racist, deeply unpleasant area.

I’ve never been there in my life, and even I know that.

Whole communities of people and areas dismissed as racist/grotty/unpleasant etc etc and hence not worthy of anyone's time and attention!

It was exactly these sorts of sneering and belittling attitudes from "London types" or middle classes that led to Brexit.

You reap what you sow etc.

Hoppinggreen · 13/12/2022 11:11

I’m sure not everyone in those areas are white racists BUT they are not especially multicultural and there are probably very few Muslims

Ciri · 13/12/2022 11:49

Of course not everyone is a white racist. But most people are certainly white and it’s a very deprived area with lots of social issues. Sutton and Kirkby in particular are very run down.

Is this not the non-driving hospital doc going to King’s Mill?

Ciri · 13/12/2022 11:58

I thought it was but it’s another poster. Sounds like kings mill is on a recruitment drive

How am I dismissing it when I lived there for 25 years and still go back to visit family? Are you seriously telling me that my long lived experience is wrong?

Hope you got sorted ✅

Lee Anderson - Ashfield's new Reform MP who says ''I want my country back'' - regarding influx of migrants, which is pred-dom. Islamic of course!

Seems this former Tory MP will hold his seat judging by the comments of those who have lived there;
[his competition for this seat will be Labour]

Halah food is in Tesco and Asda... I doubt if there's a Waitrose there
