Royal Mail final posting dates

So the final date for 1st class post is 16 December but given the strikes how realistic is it that something posted on 16th will get there before Christmas?
I am posting something tomorrow and I'm not really sure if it'll get there before Christmas. Considering going special delivery.

We’ve had very little post for a month. Our postie is lovely, but the system is broken and there are other companies who are doing better at parcel delivery. When you go to order something, there are banners saying that they’re dependent on RM. That doesn’t help those of us who are waiting for deliveries.
