So angry at waste of time

I pigging hate the NHS. Dental hospital appointment this morning at pebble mill, so booked annual leave, as it takes at least an hour and a half to get there.

Got my £10 bus/train ticket. Froze on the platform for delayed train. Train sets off for New Street and within 10 seconds my phone rings.

Appointment cancelled. 😡 Aaargh.

And it has been delayed since lockdown. Last appointment should have been June 2020 so I've been waiting for over 2 years!

I'd be very annoyed too

So, there are widespread, documented delays on all forms of transport and you are surprised at the cancellation?

Perhaps the dentist is snowed in or has been in an accident?

It’s very annoying and I sympathise.
But I think hating the NHS is an over reaction. Maybe someone is off sick? These things can’t always be helped and they have let you know before 9am?
Hope you can either cancel your annual leave or have a lovely morning with some time to yourself.

I feel you. I booked time off work last year for a gynae appt after a year wait. Hour bus there, arranged childcare etc. Arrived and was told, oh, sorry, we’ve no record of your appt despite me having the letter confirming the time. They decided they must have cancelled it … but forgotten to tell me. Waste. Of. Time. Plus just means a longer time you’re in pain / discomfort 😭

I recently drove my daughter to hospital for a day surgery procedure in a neighbouring city - 45 minute drive, 9am appointment, so we'd got up early to allow for the rush hour traffic. Paid to park the car, checked in at Reception and while we were waiting to be called through her phone rang and they cancelled her surgery! 😱

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 12/12/2022 09:00

I'm with you.

I'm with a clinic that where they love changing appointments, and shuffling them around at short notice.

I'm trying to fit it all with work, and it's a bloody nightmare.

I was told to attend a 7 hour consultant appointment at 4 days notice. Moved heaven and earth to rearrange everything and get there. Day off work, attend to care commitments at 5.30-6am, travel 1 hour to hospital. Waited 45 mins cancelled, by text. But there is no signal in the waiting area so I only found out when I walked to reception after 1.5 hours. Reception refused to speak to me.

Well got my new appointment. End of April. Hopefully strikes etc will be over then.

It's a huge hospital as well so not just a dentist appointment. So frustrated as well. If I had got the call 10 seconds earlier, I could have got off the train and gone into work.

Have to cancel my regular dentist now as well, as they don't want to see me until after I've finished treatment at the hospital, so more juggling dates.
