Turkey or chicken?

I've just been pondering a thought. I'm pretty sure that were I to cook a chicken for Christmas dinner, roasted with bacon over the top, then carved and served with all the usual accompaniments, sage and onion stuffing, pork and chestnut stuffing, pigs in blankets, gravy, cranberry sauce, bread sauce, roast potatoes and parsnip with all the usual veg, then no one actually notice or be that bothered. Other than the fact that you wouldn't have a big turkey hanging around, and it might have to be multiple chickens, depending on numbers. I'm not sure I would. My turkey has been ordered so I'm not going to actually do it, but it would be an interesting experiment!
Would you notice? Do you think your guests would?

I was just saying this today. We hosted a Xmas lunch for a large group of friends. Due to space, Wd carved up the turkey in the kitchen and brought it out, so it could easily have been chicken ( ie no one really saw the roasted bird). When it’s on the plate along with all the other stuff I don’t think anyone would tell the difference. Would have been a hell of a lot cheaper too!
