Would you leave teens alone in a hotel?

Dp and I are attending an event soon in London. It is something that was rearranged from last year and has been rearranged on a date that we would not have chosen to attend given the choice.
We have 2 teens who would like to visit but we don't have the time or money ordinarily to do this.
Would it be really bad to take them with us for the long weekend but leave them in the hotel whilst we attend the O2 at the evening?
They are 14 and 13, don't always get on but we leave them at home often to go shopping or for food if they don't want to come.
They have never been to London but we could do the whole touristy thing with them, tick it off the list.
Not sure if I'm being ridiculous thinking it could work 🤔

I would do it!

Heyahun · 11/12/2022 18:52

I think it’s totally fine tbh !

MyKidsAreKnobsInDecember · 11/12/2022 18:53

Are they the sort to stay put or the sort to get curious, go exploring and end up lost somewhere in South London?

Luredbyapomegranate · 11/12/2022 18:54

Sure. Lots of channels to watch and room service (put a cap on it!)

They wouldn't wander at all. I thought they would do enough steps in the day to make them tired enough to just want a bath, bed and tiktok. And lots of snacks, we would eat out for dinner before leaving them.

I wouldn't be surprised if unaccompanied teens is actually against the hotel t&c in the small print. I'd be comfortable leaving my two at that age if it were okay with the hotel.

I've done a similar thing with my 2 teenagers, it's fine!

Beezknees · 11/12/2022 19:11

My 14 year old would love this, he'd watch the telly and eat all the stuff in the mini fridge. I'd do it.

I would maybe try and make it an extra-special sleepover (visit the big primark on Oxford street and get new fluffy pyjamas, sheet masks, Ben and Jerry’s plus a movie if possible in the hotel) but I would have been crazy excited to have a hotel room to myself and my sister at that age! And we did not always get along!

Trees6 · 11/12/2022 19:13

I’d be fine with this but the hotel may not be.

SheWoreYellow · 11/12/2022 19:15

The hotel wouldn’t know. And I think it’s fine.

Heyahun · 11/12/2022 21:37

honestly who would even mention it to the hotel though
