I'm getting my first Tesco home delivery today. Do I need to take bags to the door. Or how do I collect from the door.

Feel a bit of a numpty not knowing what to do.

Normally the driver will place the plastic crates where you want them placed and will even lift them so you do not need to bend down.

canyouextrapol · 11/12/2022 12:36

You just pick up a crate carry it to the kitchen and empty it

Crunchymum · 11/12/2022 12:36

Depending on your house set up you may be able to take crates into kitchen and unload. I always take my bags for life to the door and unload there though (kitchen is up a few flights of stairs)

Bags to the door, our drivers have never offered or suggested we could take the crates in. They stack them on the door mat.

BendingSpoons · 11/12/2022 12:43

I carry the crates through but they can be pretty heavy.

LunaLoveFood · 11/12/2022 12:44

We carry the crates into the kitchen, empty then take them back ti the front door.

Driver carries crates in and puts on kitchen worktop, then helps me to empty them. Done!!

Mollypolly2610 · 11/12/2022 12:51

thanks all!

I normally quickly throw the stuff out in the hallway whilst the driver waits for the crates back lol

heldinadream · 11/12/2022 12:54

Laundry basket crate style is useful - just decant from one to the other plus a couple of bags.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 11/12/2022 13:01

We do bags at the door. Have got the whole thing down to less than 5 mins - saves heat loss!!

iRun2eatCake · 11/12/2022 13:04

Chair in kitchen. Driver carries boxes through and puts on chair. I unload onto worktop whilst he gets the next one.

QuestionableMouse · 11/12/2022 13:06

I get tesco deliveries every week where I work.

They come in crates, not bags. The drivers bring them into the house for me and I unload them in the pantry. Very easy and quick. I try to make it as easy as possible for them (so shut the dog in, open the garage so they can bring them through there because there's a ramp).

QuestionableMouse · 11/12/2022 13:06

At home with Morrisons though I take IKEA bags to the door, chuck everything in them then take them to the kitchen myself.

Threadkillacilla · 11/12/2022 13:08

We've had our monthly Tesco today, the lovely driver brought the crates to the kitchen and even unloaded drinks cans and orange juice into stacks for us. You get some really good drivers and they never seem to rush us or complain that it's a big order.

Mollypolly2610 · 11/12/2022 16:24

It went well! He offered to bring them in but the snow is deep here so I just emptied them at the door.

I'll be doing it again.

You can ask for bags so if that’s easier it can be done

That's what I do as well. Only cos my kitchen worktop space is too small to fit everything in at once

It's so bloody easy I cannot bear going to the supermarket in person any more. The penalty of the occasional not right sub or bit of slightly limp broccoli, in exchange for having all my shopping brought to my door - it's a no-brainer.
Glad it went well for you OP.

Mollypolly2610 · 11/12/2022 22:37

Don't know why I haven't done it before.

It's amazing what running out of wine will make you do!
