How can I break through a weightloss plateau?

This morning I weighed myself and have been the same weight for the past 3 weeks (sunday morning weigh-ins) despite going to the gym, reducing my calories etc. I'd been steadily losing but can't seem to shift anymore and now feel like frying a whole packet of sausages! I've done all the online reading but did this happen to anyone else?

Reducing calories only works so far and you will plateau if you are undereating.

Have you tried low carb?

Personally I’d go with a carb re feed, assuming of course you’ve been properly
sticking to a low calorie diet previously!

It’s 24 hours of eating an insane amount of carbs - the scales will temporarily go up by a few lb, but if your glycogen/leptin is depleted then it should be enough to kick start your metabolism again and the weight loss should continue.

That is the worst weightless advice i think I've ever read!

Do tell why? When done properly, they can be very successful.

What's the reason for this?

I’d advise stopping trying to lose weight for 4-6 weeks. Eat maintenance calories during that time and then go back to your calorie deficit.

Noicant · 18/01/2023 07:32

Yeah I would also try maintenance. If you feel like you are losing motivation and going to probably snap its better to have a small break in terms of calories. (Or something like 90% of maintenance calories). Keep going to the gym, you will probably find some extra calories will help there.
