Nissan Juke or something similar.

I need to change my car soon.
Currently have a Mini?
I love Mini’s, so much that I’ve had 5 but they are so small.
I have a medium sized rescue dog, he is very nervous in cars so will need to be in the boot, in a travel crate for comfort and safety.
I am looking for a small 4x4 type car. I ferry 14 year old dd and her friends about quite a bit so will need to accommodate 4 passengers comfortably too.
I am warming to the Nissan Juke. Used to think they were as ugly as hell and liked the Quashai more but I like the Juke as it’s that bit smaller.
Has anyone had one? What is your opinion on them?
Or if you have something of similar size what else do you recommend?

Skoda yeti. They don't make them any more so you couldn't have a new one, but they last well. Lots of space in the boot, 4x4 available, v reliable and efficient. I used to fancy a qashqai too, but then discovered yeti!

Bluevelvetsofa · 10/12/2022 19:13

Skoda Kamiq. Or Karoq if you want something a bit bigger with a massive boot. The Karoq back seats can be removed too, if you need a big carrying space any time.

Jukes are tardis in reverse.
Blooming tiny inside!

I loved my Juke. It was a 68 plate so the older style not the new 2020+ one. It was fab. 4 passengers were fine, 5 would not be. The boot lid is on a slope but it didn’t stop my dog (English Pointer) being comfortable in the boot. Inside it had all the decent gadgets but most importantly for me it heated up quickly! I’ve just changed to a qashqai as due a baby next month and the jukes back doors are quite small which I thought would be annoying with car seats etc plus not quite big enough for baby, pram and dog.

sparkypupp · 10/12/2022 19:40

If you like Minis why not a countryman? The boot is bigger than a Juke.

Stomacharmeleon · 10/12/2022 19:40

My stepdaughter returned her juke for a quashai. She is dinky- under five foot- and hated how small the juke was.
We have a Vauxhall grandland x which is nice and roomy for bigger kids/ adults.
Also had a Ford kuga but that had numerous issues and cost lots of money over the period we had it.

DutchessOfMuck · 10/12/2022 19:42

What about a Hyundai Tucson?

Boooooot · 10/12/2022 19:43

The juke is tiny, I loved mine but we had to trade it in due to being too small for 2 kids and 2 adults. You could maybe comfortably have a pug in the boot but nothing bigger.

IWasFunBeforeMum · 10/12/2022 19:44

Jukes are tiny! Especially the boot.

KathieFerrars · 10/12/2022 19:46

Jeep Renegade. Love mine. Big enough but not huge huge. Fun to drive and with a bit of quirkiness.

startingline · 10/12/2022 19:46

I love my Juke. Got a brand new one. It's horrible in the back seats though. I wouldn't want to go any distance in the back.

BorisJohnsonsHair · 10/12/2022 19:47

4x4s by the nature are small on the inside. You'd get much more room in an estate (eg golf, focus etc).

A Nissan Juke is one of the ugliest cars ever made.

RhubarbAndMustard · 10/12/2022 19:47

We've got a Renault Kadjar and I really like it.

AliceinSlumberland · 10/12/2022 19:50

We were looking for this type of car and went for the Peugeot 2008, I still love it three years on. Big boot, plenty of space inside and it’s jsut a nice car. When we looked at the juke the boot space was really small.

MusselMam · 10/12/2022 19:52

I'd get a Mini Clubman if I were you.

Oinkypig · 10/12/2022 19:56

I got a VW t-cross and it’s massive in the inside, the boot and the back seats are really roomy but it’s not too big to park. I love it

Crabwoman · 10/12/2022 20:04

Love my peugeot 2008. I'd buy it again.

FredGarland · 10/12/2022 20:07

Another vote for the Tucson. Fits my 6ft+ teens in the back and excellent boot space.

LutherRalph1 · 10/12/2022 20:09

We have a vauxhall mokka - I love it!!

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 10/12/2022 20:21

I wouldn’t get a Juke. It’s very small inside. I replaced my 67 plate Qashqai with a new one this year and I love it. It’s very comfortable to drive, great visibility and loads of bells and whistles which make driving a breeze. Much more economical than my previous Qashqai as has a ‘soft hybrid’ engine and does 50 mpg.

I don't think that's got 4 wheel drive though.

MeJane · 10/12/2022 20:24

I've had a juke and a medium sized dog and I didn't think it was too small. Either for me or my dog. I like how high the juke is.

thenightsky · 10/12/2022 20:25

Subaru Forester is a proper 4x4

MissDollyMix · 10/12/2022 20:27

Recently bought a new car. At the independent dealer we asked about various manufacturers and reliability and he said there’s only two cars he’d avoid for reliability- the Land Rover Evoque and the Nissan Juke. Make of that what you will. I know a lot of people who’ve had problems with their Evoque so if the Juke is in that league I would avoid! The Mini countryman is lovely, what about that?

CantStartaFireWithoutaSpark · 10/12/2022 20:29

My mum had a Juke! I have driven it a few times! I have always been impressed with it. It’s small but more space than you might expect!
I recommend!
