Do you think we will see the same outrage World Cup 2026? (USA)

I have noticed a lot of people saying how they will boycott this World Cup because it is in Qatar where minorities are treated poorly. We did not see the same BBC monologue saying about human right violations (Qatar) for Russia in 2018 or China hosting the Olympics where minorities also suffer.

A lot of celebrities are virtue signalling as well. People like Dua Lipa saying she is not gonna perform there until they improve their human rights. This is the same Dua Lipa who performed in Dubai with similar rules to Qatar.

USA has a lot of issues (race issues, mass shootings, states were abortion is illegal even in extreme circumstances e.g. rape)

I bet you the people who are complaining about Qatar will still perform in USA for World Cup 2026.

No country is perfect whatever country you put the World Cup in you will always find issues.

There are many human rights atrocities across the world, some are more fashionable for the virtue signallers than others. We don't seem.to hear much about the countries that perform fgm on little girls either

Just because USA (or Brazil or South Africa) isn't perfect doesn't mean other places aren't hugely worse. You can boycott who you like, OP. Crack on with it.

I must live in a different media bubble, including BBC. My bubble has long had lots of disquiet about Russian & Chinese contempt for civil & minority rights.

That is my point it is hypocritical to boycott countries because every country in the world has issues that they need to fix. You cannot take the moral high ground and say I boycotted Qatar 2022 but will openly watch 2026 World Cup in USA.
