IV cannula infiltration/extravasion advice

I’m at hospital having an IV biologic drug infusion. At the end of the 2 hour infusion when removing the cannula we noticed that my arm is bulging a lot around the cannula site.

The nurse has said it’s nothing to worry about but I’ve Googled and wonder if I should be doing anything more about it.

I’m due to be observed for the next hour anyway but is there a danger of complications later on?

Does anyone have any experience of this?

Depends entirely on what the drug was and how much has extravasated. The people looking after you will be the best ones to advise you.

I only have experience of this in relation to Chemotherapy extravasation which can be very damaging to tissue. Not sure how biologic drugs compare or what they even are ! Is it like Immunotherapy?

Thanks for responding. The nurse brought cold then hot compresses and I asked if I need to look out for anything and he said it’ll be fine and discharge me so hopefully that’s correct!
