Radiator leaking on new carpet - help!

Just had new carpet fitted and the radiator has leaked all over them last night. It's leaking down the pipe shown in picture I've tried turning it off but it's still coming out. Is there anything I can do? Will I have to replace the whole thing?

If it’s leaking badly you’ll need to turn the water off at the stop cock and call a plumber, unless you know how to isolate the radiator and turn just that off.

Maybe the carpet fitters damaged it?

dementedpixie · 10/12/2022 09:05

The thing you've turned adjusts the heat. Is there maybe a valve at the other side of the radiator to turn off the water supply?

It's just running down not gushing out but it's leaked all night so has soaked the carpet 😭 It could have been damaged when carpet was being put down but looking at the state of the pipe it doesn't look like it would have taken much 🙈

@dementedpixie oh I didn't know that wasn't to turn it off thanks, I will look if there's anything else

You will need something that looks like you can fit a screwdriver into it. Might be safer to just turn the water off at the mains and get a plumber. I’d be more worried about damaging the floorboards and possibly wiring at the moment than the carpet.
