It says I have been restricted from using Meta Products to advertise blah blah.

See screenshot . I don't advertise or even know what they are talking about.

Does anyone know what this is about?

Has your account been cloned? Are your contacts with spammed with ads for things?

WillMellorsHips · 10/12/2022 12:43

It says I can ask for a review but I have to upload a photo of ID. As I am not an advertiser it doesn't bother me but last night I did change passwords. Thanks for replying.

This might well be a scam. There are some really convincing ones like this. Report to the Meta help-chat to check and DO NOT upload any ID documents.

WillMellorsHips · 10/12/2022 22:01

Thanks and yes I was not planning to.

Same thing has just happened to me and I don't advertise anything on Facebook either. Will change my password

Swordfishtrombone · 08/02/2023 23:13

Hello! It isn't a scam. FB are clamping down on any accounts they consider 'grey' ie not personal accounts or accounts they suspect are secondary accounts. If you don't advertise, carry on. It's an absolute pain in the backside for those of us that do.

dahliaaa · 09/02/2023 08:00

Thanks that's interesting (although neither of those things apply to me so wonder why I was selected.)

Using a name they suspect is an alias is often a way they pick up on accts, too.

They are trying to be the definitive global directory of real people so they can, presumably, sell that info on to the highest bidder

Check with Facebook directly. I had an extremely convincing one like this but checked first and it WAS a scam. The request for ID is a good clue to scammers. DO NOT upload it.
