What on earth is wrong with me? Stomach pain for a week - any ideas while I wait on 111??

Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this, or can offer any perspective, though I realise illness is a very individual thing.

Last Saturday I was sick, felt unwell and had upper abdomen pain. Felt crap on Sunday and was sick again. Presumed it was food poisoning or something I'd picked up. Haven't been sick again, though have felt nauseous a lot. Stomach pain has continued on and off during day and very strongly at night, interfering with sleep. Last night I had terrible diarrhea and today feel shaky and weak. I haven't felt 'right' all week. Have been hungry but not had much appetite and what I did have was not for the usual foods.

Before anyone says "why are you asking a bunch of randoms on Mumsnet?" I'd just like to say that I'm typing this while on hold to 111 (40 minutes so far) and my GP doesn't offer appointments unless booked through the online system and I've filled in the form and hopefully will get an appointment next week. AMmconsidering going to the urgent care centre at the local hospital when I feel a bit stronger - had a bad night and can't eat anything.

GP have acknowledged receipt of online form so hopefully I'll get an appointment of some kind next week.

Interestingly, having just googled gallbladder info, it says that prescription pain relievers can help with the pain and on Tuesday, I took a codeine just to see if it helped, and it did.

I was sick once when I had covid, it was my first symptom, I'm very rarely sick

Other than that, lower tummy pain might be a UTI

Or one of my sons vomited endlessly when he had an appendicitis, maybe yours is grumbling

But obviously you know you need to get it checked out by a dr, come back and update us and I hope you feel better soon

Gallbladder pain tends to be upper right quadrant, and attacks are usually quite severe

adriftabroad · 09/12/2022 14:26

Sounds like mild pancreatitis. I have had those symptoms twice and it was that.

I'm just getting over 2 weeks of stomach pain, diarrhoea, nausea and one episode of spewing. GP gave buscopan to calm the spasms, which has helped and sent off stool sample. Thinks it's some form of infection, but possibly appendix.

Gave up on 111 - hopeless. Will probably go to the walk in centre later. Am also a bit worried as my dad died from pancreatic cancer, so that's on my mind.

There's an online version of 111 that might be worth a try? I used it and had a call back a couple of hours later.

If you're going to the walk in, go now. Friday night is usually busy later on with drunks in my experience 😬

When you see the GP next week please tell him about your dad and don’t leave without at least, being referred for an ultrasound scan, MRI if possible.

I did not mean to worry you. I am not a doctor and have no idea! I was told mild acute (when I had similar symptoms) is not a worry for cancer. It is chronic, years and years of niggling pain that is. Severe acute you would be passed out with the pain by now. Unable to walk etc. It could simply be an aggravated pancreas. Had you either eaten or had a lot of alcohol or fatty food unusual to you?

You sound just like me when I had my two mild attacks. It is quite common, for varying reasons.

I would keep fluids up and eat nothing. Rest. Not much else you can do really until the pancreas has calmed down.

Could easily not be this. It was just a thought. Gall bladder I understood was in a different area, my friend had this and was in agony. Hope you get some help soon Flowers
