Strawberry tongue?

DS is complaining of a sore throat and is snotty. Says he feels sick but he's not liking school at the moment so hard to tell.

However, does this look like strawberry tongue to you? It does seem to have dark dots on it but I've never really paid much attention to his tongue!

I know there is a case of scarlet fever in school but not in his class

Strawberry tongue is bright bright red, so no I don't think this looks like it.

Looks like an ordinary tongue to me. Have a look at strawberry tongue images - they're quite different.

Looks like a normal tongue to me too.

Strep A doesn't tend to make you snotty if that helps.

Thanks everyone. Some of the photos I'd seen didn't seem particularly red so I was a bit confused. We were needing to rush out to breakfast club so it was good to have quick responses.

His temperature was normal

At least I know what his tongue looks like now so I can compare in future!

Hi @NoodleDoodleDo - I had the same with my son yesterday and sent a picture to the doctor on the online non urgent route my doctors have as also just wasn’t sure ( as some of the images I mine do look like that!).

Dr confirmed didn’t look like strawberry tongue ( I did feel a bit silly). But of course said keep an eye and contact if any change/are worried.

If it helps, my ds strawberry tongue was like the taste buds had swollen to 3x their usual size. It's the texture as well as the colour that makes it like a strawberry :)
