Missed Sertraline dose

Miseryhatescompany · 08/12/2022 15:50

My pharmacy has cocked up and I won't be able to collect my Sertraline prescription until tomorrow, meaning I have to miss a dose today. I am on 25mg daily and doing well on it so far (have been on more in the past).

Will it affect me at all missing just one dose, bearing in mind it's a low dosage I'm on? I'm so annoyed with the pharmacy.

How long have you been on it?

My doctor didn't send my prescription to the pharmacy on Friday so I went all weekend without (took the last one on Friday).

I'm on 100mg. I was fine on Saturday, knackered by Sunday night and twitchy as fuck on Monday. Like, proper withdrawal symptoms, which I hadn't expected.

I took one and felt like I was back to my medicated normal Smile

I’m on 200mg a day. It has a fairly high half life and like the other poster I am ok the next day if I miss one. (I have only done it once!)

I cannot miss a second day. I get brain zaps. Shakes. Agitation. Within twenty minutes of taking it I’m back to normal.

I have had an emergency seven days issued by the pharmacy due to doctor issues so I didn’t break. If it’s your regular pharmacy and you’ve been on it a while ask the pharmacy. Mine are really helpful and took it off the next prescription.

You will be fine

I’m on 100mg. I feel a bit weird when I skip a dose but nothing serious. The most prominent symptom is a weirdly tingly mouth, oddly enough!

Miseryhatescompany · 08/12/2022 16:04

@girlmom21 turns out it is the doctor's surgery's fault as they didn't send it to the pharmacy until 3pm today and they don't have any stock. Typical!

I have been on it again probably for about 3 months. I was on 50mg for a year back in 2019-20 and slowly came off it, and was only without completely since about spring time this year but I found I needed to be on it so went back on to the lowest dose (as I had been fine taking half 50mg daily, then half every other day, when I had slowly come off of it back in 2020-21).

I have to say @Meadowsalways it was instant. Some people say that's a placebo effect but I really felt much better after only a couple of days. Sorry to hear you don't feel any better. I think you are meant to give it about 6 weeks, so perhaps stay at your current dose for 6 weeks then go back to the doctor?

It took about 5 weeks for me but I was on 50mg for that whole time and upped my dose a week later

Manchmal · 09/12/2022 13:20

@Meadowsalways it takes a few week, and in my experience it creeps up on you. I vividly remember having a realisation one day that I actually just felt like me again. And had done for a little while. It was wonderful.

please don’t be worried about it working — there are loads of other ones you can try. The GP just starts you off on the cheapest, easiest most widely tolerated one. Go back to the doctor if you are still worried it isn’t working.
