This will either be "you've got a point" or "lol you absolute twat" but I suffer badly with anxiety so there it is. My friend is doing up my shithole of a garden next Spring, I'm paying him obviously but I'm pretty much giving him a couple of ideas about what I like and leaving him to it. He's not a qualified gardener but he has done his own and a couple of our mutual friends and they all look amazing so I know he's good. I've known him for over a decade and we're very good friends. He wants to take up my old paving slabs and replace fence panels... all fine with me. Other than that it will just be a few ornaments, maybe a brick built barbecue. The only thing that worries me is upsetting the foundations and ending up with a subsidence issue or some sort of insurance nightmare or something. Am I being too cautious? Is it okay for someone without qualifications to do up a garden?
