How many years bank statements do you keep?

Apologies for the riveting thread but I need to do a clear out and one part of me wants to get rid of any statements that are two years old, but a very small part of my brain is telling me that I might get accused of money laundering in 2017 so it will be useful to have them to clear my name 😬. Looking for permission to shred them I suppose!

I haven't received a paper statement for years. It's all online.

Toottooot · 07/12/2022 16:26

Zero - have not received a physical statement in years. All online.

chercez · 07/12/2022 16:26

Shred, you can always get copies if ever needed.

Did you commit money laundering then??
I don't keep any as I opted out of paper bank statements years ago

Blowyourowntrumpet · 07/12/2022 16:28

I look through them then shred immediately

GNR2022 · 07/12/2022 16:28

I haven’t had a paper statement for at least 5 years, probably longer!

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 07/12/2022 16:28

Don't think I've had bank statements since about 2015! I bank with Chase now so paper statements aren't even an option I don't think

MammaWeasel · 07/12/2022 16:30

As most others have said, I have none because they're all online.

Fleabigg · 07/12/2022 16:30

Zero printed. However many years I can go back to online.

DrMarciaFieldstone · 07/12/2022 16:31

None - haven’t had paper statements in at least 12 years

LisaJool · 07/12/2022 16:32

@123rd no I haven't, but you don't know my luck there's always a chance? My bank went paperless in 2020, but I have the statements from when I opened the account in 2016. The shredder it is!

Shred the lot, and if you're anything like me, enjoy the satisfaction of getting rid of it all!

purplemama1990 · 07/12/2022 17:26

None, if you need them then you can get them online. If you need a paper copy, you can request the bank to send you this for any time period.

AzureOrchid · 07/12/2022 17:32

None
Everything is online
