What present would you really like at Xmas?

We all buy for others, hoping we've got it right. Just wondering what others would be really happy to receive.

For me, a book to read, chocolates, wine and M&S biscuits (never buy them for us as they're over our usual budget, but a nice treat). I really need some gloves, but holding off just in case someone buys them for me. I often think the toiletry sets you see in Boots look nice.

OP posts:

Cloud 9 straighteners which I hear are the bee's knees
A light up mirror so I can see what I'm doing with above
A swift box for on my house
Stuff for the garden; trellis for my jasmine, bird bath, anything to encourage wildlife
Frys Chocolate Cream bars
Audible credits galore
Anything cashmere- socks, wrist warmers, scarf
Really powerful sex toys; mains powered wand or rabbit, the womaniser

I am not expecting all of these 😂

MsMiaWallace · 07/12/2022 15:27

A lie in!

miceonabranch · 07/12/2022 15:31

A bottle of Laphroaig single malt whisky
A nice ring
Some woollen socks
Some nice chocolate

I'm not getting any of these things.

  1. Vouchers to get my nails painted (a book of 6 sessions would be amazing).
  2. Paulas Choice niacinamide eye cream.
  3. Sunday Riley CEO moisturiser.
  4. Everyday earrings.
  5. Everyday rings and bracelets.
  6. My eyebrows micro bladed.
  7. Apple EarPods
  8. Vouchers for reformer Pilates.
  9. Theatre vouchers.
  10. Nice notebook for journaling.

I’m always told I’m difficult to buy for but I think I’m actually quite easy. Expensive tastes, yes, but not difficult!

Spanielsarepainless · 07/12/2022 16:03

A bottle of Lagavulin single malt whisky
DH to put in writing he's happy to move house
My own weight in Heroes
£1000 Amazon voucher to clear my wish list. And some!

OnceAgainWithFeeling · 07/12/2022 16:05

A trip to anywhere on the planet that doesn’t celebrate xmas

DappledThings · 07/12/2022 16:06

Nothing. And for nothing to mean nothing not "oh I know you said that but I couldn't possibly respect that so here is some random stuff because it's essential you get something".

TokyoSushi · 07/12/2022 16:07

An Apple watch and Airpods
A really warm long coat, ideally Rab
Really nice running trainers
Neom electric diffuser
Monica Vinader Eternity ring
A trip to Reykjavik

About £2K should do it! I suspect I might get the Apple watch, but nothing else!

AceofPentacles · 07/12/2022 16:14

A nice ring and/or necklace
Luxury chocolates
Clarins double serum
Posh woolly socks

Not getting any of this either

PandaG · 07/12/2022 16:30

New purse that the coin part zips up completely so coins don't fall out of the sides - specific I know but is an issue with current purse!
Snag tights
1-1 sewing lessons, and advice from someone knowledgeable about what feet to buy for my inherited machine
Vouchers for haircut/manicure/massage so I can treat myself.
Vouchers for shoe shop.

Artichokepiglet · 07/12/2022 16:34

An amber necklace, ballet lessons, a new diary and a nice dried bouquet for the hallway

species5618 · 07/12/2022 16:41

A new car to replace my new car.
Saved for 4 years to buy my first ever newish (2020) car. Had it a week and I really dislike driving it. Much prefer my old banger 🙁

IncyWincyGrownUp · 07/12/2022 16:57

I’d like some low rise heat insulated socks.

I’ve run out of day moisturiser, so a new pot would be nice. Nothing over fancy, just easy to absorb.

beachcitygirl · 07/12/2022 17:19

Creme de la mer moisturiser - I used to use it when married. Can't afford it anymore but really really miss it. My skin just isn't as good anymore.

Orange leather gloves

Hermes 24 rue de fabourg perfume.

I won't get any of these.

I'll get expensive shoes from dh & books from dd & lovely lipstick from sister
I'll be happy

Vladimir Putin’s head in a box.. and bamboo socks.

Oh yes, that too!

CavalierApproach · 07/12/2022 17:35

A new Kindle Paperwhite. Mine is ancient and has slowed down so much it’s maddening to use.

I won’t get one, but might buy it for myself.

Fleurdaisy · 07/12/2022 17:36

A day without CFS. Please. Pretty please?

HouseInTheMiddle · 07/12/2022 17:41

A new bench for the garden.

PortiasBiscuit · 07/12/2022 17:20

Vladimir Putin’s head in a box.. and bamboo socks.

You have my attention, on both counts.

Bamboo is lush, I may treat myself to some bamboo yarn in the new year. Thanks for the reminder.

Also, if I get the head in a box, happy to timeshare so we can all check it’s still inanimate.

MaggieFS · 08/12/2022 22:57

I don't need more 'stuff'. But I'm lucky I have two lovely but exhausting DC (plus a FT job). I'd love more friends and especially family to come and visit. And I'd really love anyone to do babysitting. The gift of company and time would count more than any stuff, cheesy as it sounds, I've hit that point in life.

Defiantlynot41 · 08/12/2022 23:06

@LimeCheesecake ask for Paul
a Young hazelnut pralines, like Ferrero Rocher but better and no one could accuse them of being cheap at £17 for 9 chocolates https://shop.paulayoung.co.uk/products/hazelnut-praline?prproddstrat=copurchase&prreccid=c7ac826a4&prreccpid=4817880219784&prreffpid=4775777927304&pr_seq=uniform&variant=33405476044936
