Pain in the left nipple for the past two days

My left nipple has been pretty sore for two days. I'm not aware of any injuries. There is no lump in the breast, nor is there any discharge from the nipple. I'm not concerned because it's only been two days, so I didn't bother making an appointment with my doctor. I am in my late twenties. No children or pregnancy Is it worth seeing a doctor about it, or should you simply wait and see if it goes away on its own? I assumed it was only temporary. Do you have any ideas what it could be?

Obviously check with GP if it continues.

Odd question, but have you had your hair cut recently? I once had an awful stabby pain in one breast, and very careful examination found a tiny bristle stuck in my bra. It had been in the wash too, but had got wedged into the stretchy fabric of the soft cup. At some point it had worked its way out and attacked me! Maybe no help for you, but worth a mention.

@TeaAndStrumpets No, I haven't had my hair cut in a while, but thank you for your response. If it persisted, I'd see my GP.
