Those traditional violet chocolates

I had some of these last night but I could hardly taste the weird violet flavour of them. It's normally really distinctive, like it or loathe it! I lost a bit of my sense of taste/smell from covid (not recently), and although it's 95% back sometimes I feel I'm not getting the full flavour of something that I can remember the taste of well. Just wondering if anyone's had these this year and thought they had a weaker flavour than normal?

So far I have had only some from Prestat recently and they have been lovely. I'd be gutted if I couldn't taste them properly anymore!

Ah, these were cheap ones from Lidl so could that be the reason? Yes, it's depressing to not fully taste everything but I can't complain as some people can't taste at all. Coffee is another one that I've never fully recovered.

Also, I can taste almost everything but the depth and fullness of the flavours that I remember isn't there. Like subtle notes of a round Colombian coffee or this violet flavour. I don't know if I could cook a special meal anymore as I couldn't be confident in knowing how it really tastes.

*round flavours, I meant, not a round coffee 😀
