What gadget do I need for my 90 year old mum to listen to audiobooks ?

My mum is crippled with arthritis, in a care home. She can't hold a book anymore, or press hard enough on ipad/kindle to be able to read anymore :(
I'd like to get her a device she could listen to audio books through - via Audible I guess ? the care home staff would press go on the machine and leave her to it ! She will likely sleep through most of them, but hope it will be of comfort to her. Budget is not particularly an issue. I am befuddled by the range of amazon Alexa things! Sound quality needs to be good, she likely won't use headphones or buds. thanks for any advice

An iPad would be fine if she already has one. I’ve only listened to audiobooks on my phone or iPad and the sound is fine.
Also you can listen to free audiobooks from the library. The app I use is borrowbox, you log in with your library card and there’s hundreds of free audiobooks to borrow. Lots of new ones too.

My kids listen on their tablets or our phoned A cheapo kindle fire wld be fine then download audible.

We have audible app on all our devices one good thing is you can log into same accoubt on different devices so you could share an account with her

A yoto player would I think be good for her. Any book can be downloaded onto cards for her then she just puts the card in probably wouldn't even need any/much help with it.

Alexa speaker she can talk to,voice activated to play the books

Kindle fire would be fine.

You can delete all the other apps and bits off it so it’s simple.

If you’re with her frequently and can therefore manage the account for her check out BorrowBox or Libby for free audio books from your library.

The most basic Alexa dot and a device for the audiobooks eg cheapest Kindle Fire.

Once the devices are paired, she could just say, "Alexa, read 'XYZ".

And she could ask for the news, the weather, set a reminder etc without much set up.

I listen to mine through Alexa. Just ask her to play what book I want to listen to. X

My son has a Yoto player and the cards are all for children. To download other books would be quite pricey as you’d have to buy the ‘make your own cards’, then buy the audiobooks from elsewhere. They also have to be mp3 format.
An Alexa is a great idea as it’s voice activated.
