Which books do your 6 year olds enjoy learning to read with?

DD is probably about average/ below average for reading. The school send home a book a week, but she's canny for catching on to repetition and patterns, so cheats like hell and doesn't actually sound out the words.

She wants to progress in her reading so I'm absolutely not being a pushy parent, I'm just trying to help her.

I'm struggling to find books as they are either too repetitive and she cheats "Where is Spot, Here is Spot" etc, or are too old with lots of contractions that she just doesn't get yet.

Can you lovely lot make any recommendations please?

My dc liked comic style books - Dogman and The Bad Guys were both good. Both are funny and the text is not too heavy.
