I've got my driving test this morning

As the title says. I have my first shot at passing my driving test today aged 39. I've barely slept but I'm certain adrenaline will get me through. I have 2.5 hours with my instructor before. Please think positive happy thought for me haha, thanks!

Hey good luck I passed at 40 odd.

I talked out loud instructions to myself for most of the test which seemed to calm and help me focus.

I thought at least the instructor knows I'm really thinking about this.
I did pick up a fair few minors tho so was lucky.
I had a mantra in my head you can do this you have to do this.

I still remember how nervous I was and that was 26 years ago. I couldn't reverse to save my life but I somehow managed it on the day and passed. Still not great at reversing to be honest.

I got my left and right mixed up,twice I signaled and manoeuvred correctly for the way I was going .I still passed and the examiner said he might use the route I took again!

Stay calm. Double check around you before you move out. If you take wrong turn don’t panic.

I passed my test at 39 on the eve of my 40th birthday. I was so nervous. I just like you didn't sleep etc. I passsd !!!

I didn't tell anyone that I was doing my test . So it took the pressure off me . I ate a banana a hour or before hand , which I really didn't want to , and I just thought to myself if I fail I will do it again . By the time I got into the car I was relatively calm . Took some deep breaths and drove , I pretended the examiner was my friend , and luckily she was quite chatty which helped my nerves.

Oh good luck! I passed first time at 39. I found that I was more terrified the day before the test, on the day I felt relieved that I was about to get it all over and done with. Let us know how it goes!

Yes mine was 26 years ago. I think we had it easier back in the day though, no theory test for one. I remember doing the test then at the end the instructor just help up a couple of road sign cards and asked me what they meant and also a question about which gear I would use for a certain scenario.

Lots of luck op! I remember being so nervous I was shaking like crazy. I was shaking so much my test examiner had to tell me to calm down 😂 he was really nice about it and we pulled over and I took a few deep breaths.

I recommend taking the deep breaths before you get into the car though, as my first examiner wouldn't have let me pull over to do it.

Remember they are checking to make sure you are a safe and competent driver. Just drive as you have been taught and you will be fine.
