Longshot but has anyone received a secondhand clarinet in the post in error via dpd?

Just that really. My dh sold one on ebay and the buyer send a photo with a pair of kids trainers she'd received instead. The label had the correct details but wasn't the one my dh had printed off! Underneath was another dpd label. Looks like someone at dpd may have switched labels/cocked up whatever.
So if you have received a clarinet, please would you be kind enough to dm me. Its a lot to loose and also someone won't have their gift they've ordered for someone (presuming its a Christmas present for a dc).
Thank you. 😃
Other than that, if anyone has been in a similar situation, then any advice on this would be gratefully received. NC as could possibly be outing.

Be wary of this being a scam by the buyer - have they got much feedback?

RoyFuckingKent · 04/12/2022 22:26

Label switching is happening a lot lately unfortunately. I’d be inclined to believe the buyer. There was a thread on here the other day where several people had received random things this way.

Have you logged into dpd and checked the delivery photo?

Hi PlaitBilledDuckyPuss, haven't checked but will do, thanks.
RoyFuckingKent, haven't heard of it before but that doesn't mean its not happening.
Mincepiepie, yes, tried the tracking number but not recognised by dpd on their website even though we have the printed receipt with the number!

Mincepiepie, thats why I looked to see what had been delivered. It seems strange that the tracking number isn't recognised. Somethings really odd with all of this. Its so annoying. My dh always posts right after an item is sold and always makes sure the item is well packed etc.

RoyFuckingKent can you remember the name of the thread by any chance?

I don’t. And I can’t find it. It was fairly recent. There is another here though where similar label transfers were happening.

the popularity of the courier printing the labels for you appears to be causing a few issues. The margin for error there seems a lot greater.
hopefully you’re all insured, but disappointing for the buyer I agree.

Missingparcel · 05/12/2022 11:26

RoyFuckingKent. Thank you. Its worse than that though! My dh printed the label and taped it to the parcel. Dpd printed a different version and stuck it on a different parcel. Can't even think how that happened unless they stole the parcel. But why nit just not deliver it rather than stick it on another parcel? Maybe stealing loads so just covering themselves?

Well, I still don't understand how the children's trainers ended up being delivered under a different label but with the same sender details BUT good news! The buyer has been in contact again, by phone, to say that the clarinet has turned up. She sounded happy and relieved. As are we.
So the other parcel and how it got there, will remain a mystery. A happy ending. Thanks anyway to those that took the time to reply.
