Kitchen/ dishwasher advice pls

Built in dishwasher has died and as it was always a bit glitchy due to poor drainage form that position we want to replace it with a freestanding.
There’s a black range and stainless steel fridge freezer visible. What colour would look best there. Dishwasher is under draining board.

I’d say black because of the range but I don’t understand how moving to a freestanding one will help with drainage?

Etinoxaurus · 04/12/2022 22:13

Thanks, I think black too, but otoh there’s more choice in stainless steal and it’d stand out less against the cabinets.
Re why a free standing, it regularly blocks- needs a lot of tlc and constantly rocking it out has buggered the door!

Stainless steel that matches fridge freezer

I have the same colours as you and we matched it to the fridge freezer. Our dishwasher is a bit further from our range than yours though.
There was hardly any choice of dishwashers in black so we paid quite a bit more for the dishwasher that matches the FF - except when it came it was sod all like the FF. I wish we'd just bought a cheaper dishwasher.

Stainless steel will blend in ok and will have much more choice than black, black also might look a bit too much black

Thank you so much. Follow up question. Via rewards scheme I can get one of these- which would you recommend?

Beko are far higher than whirlpool on which if that helps?

Grimbleton · 05/12/2022 09:05

is It going in a different place in your kitchen? A freestanding won’t fit in an integrated space as freestanding machines are deeper and wider (gap needed either side to get the machine into the space)

gogohmm · 05/12/2022 09:06

My beko is 7years old (or was when I sold it with the house) I recommend

What, what?! Are you sure? Everything I’ve read suggests otherwise. I’m really stuck if so.

I had a new kitchen fitted this year and had to move my tumble dryer as wiggle room was needed for a freestanding appliance vs a freestanding version. I think about an extra 4cm from memory, but maybe it was just my fitter? I would check very carefully and buy from somewhere with a good returns policy just in case though!

Blossomtoes · 06/12/2022 17:34

I’d just buy another integrated one. Replacement doors aren’t very expensive.

Etinoxaurus · 01/01/2023 14:48

Thanks all. Because it had been built in and then wriggled around the door was pretty knackered. We’ll probably have it repainted at some point but for now the kitchen looks great. We went for a freestanding stainless steel one and it blends nicely- trying to pick out the oven could have misfired I think.
Big excitement was that it was in and running for less than £500 fitting, cutting out plinth and new machine before Christmas.
