Will I lose this money?

Ordered a lamp (around £200) from made.com back in august. The lamp was broken, they sent another out and this was broken too. They arranged for a courier (evri) to collect both lamps and refund me which happened early October. In the meantime they went into administration and the tracking for the courier has never updated, just said it has been collected and is on its way back to the seller.

I paid by PayPal so raised a dispute; gave screenshots of all the conversations between myself and made.com and PayPal said I could have a full refund if I returned the item. I put the tracking number of the collection to prove it had been returned. My dispute got declined.

I called PayPal to query this, they said they can’t offer a refund until made confirm they’ve received the item back. I said they’ve gone into administration and they said it didn’t matter, it was apparently my responsibility to follow up with evri (which is bloody difficult). I argued this and was promised a call back from a manager within 3 days which never materialised (this was a week ago) so I know I’ll need to call them again tomorrow. I also emailed evri to ask for an update a week ago and haven’t heard anything back.

does anyone know where I stand with this? Im getting really frustrated and need my money back, this has been dragging on for months.

Could you go through your bank instead?
You would have insurance if paid by CC or could raise a chargeback if through debit card?

Could I do a chargeback if I paid by PayPal do you know? Thank you for your response

I’ve messaged the bank’s online webchat and they can’t do a direct debit indemnity for PayPal so I guess I’ll just have to try PayPal again. It’s so hard to get through to a human to speak to there.

This seems so unfair. I'd chase PayPal. And evri too.
