Home remedies for earache

So my ear is freaking killing after having a chesty cough and sore throat. It’s stabbing pains, muffled, hurts when I swallow, crackling and popping noises. Is there anything I can do at home tonight before I can speak to someone tomorrow?

Earache is not nice at all. This is an old family remedy that has been passed down through the generations. It works everytime I have an Earache. In a teaspoon put some Olive Oil and 1 clove of chopped garlic. Heat this over some heat ( I do this on my Gas Cooker) until the garlic sizzles and goes slightly brown. Remove the Garlic and completely cool down the Oil and put a few drops in your Ear whilst laying on your side or tilting your head. You should feel its effects quickly.

Rock salt in a clean sock, tie the end up, microwave for a few seconds and then hold on the sore ear, its meant to draw out the toxins.

A hot water bottle wrapped in a tea towel also helps a lot.

I’ve suffered with ear aches/infections for 20 years and have them hoovered every few months and this is what I do when I feel my ear is angry and inflamed. I heat up the core of an onion and put it outside the ear canal. It must be quite warm but not hot as it will burn. I hold it there until it cools down. It really is effective and I’ve used it quite a few times when ear is hurting. Also don’t put your finger in or cotton buds as it can make your earache much worse. I feel your pain. Let us know if you try any of our methods and if they worked for you. Good luck

Pour Warm olive oil with a couple of drops of tea tree oil into your ear while lying on one side. Put a warm hot water bottle on top. It really helps

God please don’t be putting onion or garlic or other homemade potions in to your ear

a hot water bottle is good but you don’t want to introduce potential further infection or foreign bodies in there!

Gently warmed olive oil (no garlic or anything else!) a few drops in, plugged with some cotton wool.

I’ve suffered my whole life with ear troubles and I’ve tried so many remedies.
I know it sounds weird but the only one that’s ever worked for me was a small geranium \pelargonium leaf crinkled up just inside the ear with cotton wool to hold it in. Sounds mad but it worked for me a few times.

You are actually not putting any Garlic in your Ear just the Olive Oil. All the antibacterial and anti inflammatory effect of the Garlic is in the oil once it is heated up.

Half a warm onion on the ear. That and also olive oil in it helps.
