Do you use bottled water? If so, which? The instructions say preferably distilled water but if not 5+ minutes of boiled water. Kettles are about 30 seconds.

Oh I always do kettle - put it in the little pot thing hot so that salt can dissolve, then cool in there before using obviously. But if you really want to do the 5 minute thing then use a pan.

If you're in UK I think cooled boiled (kettle boiled) water is fine

GrumpyPanda · 03/12/2022 12:00

Tbh I've mostly just used warm tap water. Very unmumsnetty I suppose, but I'm alive to tell the tale.

Smiley444 · 03/12/2022 12:08

Yes, I'm in UK. I just used cooled kettle boiled water last week, but then read all the warnings about 5 mins+ to kill all the bugs. Tried to find distilled water but failed!

Our water is very safe already if fresh from the mains, so regular cooled boiled water should be fine and is what I use.

The scare stories are probably regarding water that wasn't safe to drink in the first place.

We have a boiling water tap and my husband just fills a jug with that and let's it cool. You could always boil on the hob for 5 mins if you're concerned.

TheShellBeach · 03/12/2022 12:11

I always use boiled water which has cooled down.

Alconleigh · 03/12/2022 15:00

Yes just normal kettle water which has cooled here too.

magicalorange · 03/12/2022 15:07

We always just use boiled water from the kettle.

alittleadvicepls · 03/12/2022 15:09

I’m an ENT nurse and we always tell our patients to use kettled water that has cooled down to body temp.

Thank you! I hate when the salty water gets stuck in the sinuses. Feeling heavy-headed!
