My 7 year old was ill on monday high temp etc. Wednesday she seemed better but thursday she woke with a really high temp (40) cough etc. ive been alternating calpol and ibuprofen that brings her temp down to 39 ish but not back to normal.

This morning she has woken up saying she has a very sore throat and still with a temp.

when she woke up her temp was 39.9. Ive given her calpol and we have sat by a fan and its down to 38.6 but shes just tired, coughing and complaining about her throat not right at all even after medicines etc.

i have 5 older children who all had the same thing but they were ill for a day or so and then better - 7 year old is still adding symptoms.

i think i would like to get her seen today but im not sure if i can just take her to a walk in centre with these symptoms?

the gp put of hours just resirects to 111. We called 111 last year abd thr call back took 24 hours i was hoping to see someone today.

what is the best way to go about this?

thanks

apologies if this is mixed up i am very tired !

Call 111. I should think with all the strep stuff in the news they’re very likely to see you today. 111 is how you access ooh gp appts.

Obviously if she deteriorates further then a&e but right now I’d try 111 first based on what you are saying.

You can fill out a 111 form online also.

Some pharmacies will have pharmacist's who can prescribe antibiotics also, we have a few locally and it's a relatively new service.

Thanks!
i have filled in the 111 form online so we should be getting a call back from a nurse.

My GP practice has just started a Saturday collaborative with 3 other surgeries on a rotation. Check your GP website just in case.
Our hospital has a GP service too but I think you have to book via 111
