Tell me your favourite Christmas snacks?

What snacks to you like at Christmas?

I like chocolates, Pringles, olives, cheeses with crackers. I never get the cheese board selections as I don’t like Stilton… so will be buying cheeses separate, however I’m wondering what fancy cheeses I could try this year? Any suggestions?

For drinks I like Prosecco or sparkling wines…

I like the idea of baileys that seems very Christmassy but other than just having some on its own over ice I’m not sure how to drink it lol I’m sure there are more exciting ways? 🤣

So here I am shamelessly looking for some naughty Christmas snack inspiration … So tell me what are you going to be getting in this Christmas?

Baked Camembert, cranberry sauce and lovely bread.

StickyCricket · 03/12/2022 08:52

Have a look online at Paxton & Whitfield for cheeses, we always get a selection from there at Christmas.

Baileys in hot chocolate or coffee.

I like the Mexican chilli cheese with chutney.

Also a cheese bake or Camembert with bread.

Crisps and dip is a winner.

Popcorn if watching Christmas films.

Baileys hot chocs for sure! Once I've finished work for Christmas, they're on the go every evening 😍

I'm not saying it's particularly highbrow but in their Deli section Tesco do a Pickled onion and Chive Cheddar which is glorious and so moreish.

I also like Belton's Red Fox for something slightly different but not too out there.

I prefer to get things I know will actually be used, will keep fairly well and can be used up after Xmas so those suit well.

Baileys in hot chocolate is fab.

Otherwise I love the M&S cheese straws with some sort of dip, usually some whipped goats cheese and a bit of caramelised onion chutney. Salmon terrine on oatcakes with cream cheese, some sort of tear and share bread, profiterole stack covered in chocolate sauce, candied pecans in a bowl never last long.

Drinks wise I like Prosecco with Elderflower and Blackberry or a Port and lemonade. Like I said - I'm not sure any of it could possible be claimed to be very posh but those are some favourites.

I'm a Jew, but there's something about chocolate Santas, the really cheap ones! Also very partial to those compartmented pretzel trays in the middle aisle of Aldi at this time of year. Grin

You know I have never actually tried egg nog, is it nice? What does it taste like? Can you taste the egg?

@PipinwasAuntieMabelsdog
Yes the chocolate Santa's are lovely and the chocolate gold coins too, they take me back to my childhood lol one year my DH bought me the Thorntons chocolate snowman, the one from the movie… My favourite Christmas film that I have watched every year since being a child. Loved it! even though I’m an adult and I’m sure they are made for children really 🤣

Chestnuts. Lots of chestnuts.

KittensNotMittens · 03/12/2022 16:24

nuts. My sister roasts and flavours nuts and I always eat my body weight in them.

Zipps · 03/12/2022 16:44

Mulled wine
Whisky cheese
M&S brie
Carr's crackers
Co-op sea salt and chardonnay wine vinegar crisps
Lindt chocolate
Hotel Chocolate dipping set

Sgtmajormummy · 03/12/2022 16:49

Nuts for cracking. I sit in the corner, half listening to the conversation around me and make my way through the lot.
I like Brazil nuts best. They make you think you’ve earned the calories once you’ve got them open.

gogohmm · 03/12/2022 16:57

Smoked salmon blinis are my favourite, picked up (cheap) caviar today in lidl for a bit of extra luxury. Very keen on baked Camembert. Love a cheese board, stronger the better, and antipasti.

Crisps, dip etc of course buts year roundBlush

Mossstitch · 03/12/2022 17:09

Port salut...... No idea why we only have it at Xmas as we all like it but we do (along with other cheeses). I have to have cashew nuts to nibble on with Bucks fizz whilst cooking the dinner and Bucks fizz has to be made with expensive OJ that we only have then (Innocents). Then a selection of posh m & s handcooked crisps for my eldest along with the hollow children's chocolate figures/choc coins for my youngest (despite him being in his 30s😄).

Blendandmix · 03/12/2022 18:32

If you like sparkling wine try Bird in Hand. It's so lush

Is Brie a soft cheese?

what’s the best way to eat it? I’m thinking maybe on a cracker?? 🤔
