Sleepover tips/activities for 4yo

SouperNoodle · 02/12/2022 18:39

Tomorrow night my 4yo dd is having 2 friends sleepover.
We're going to the cinema, having pizza and dipping strawberries in chocolate/sprinkles/marshmallows.

I just need ideas on bedtime activities. Obviously I'll read a story but I need ideas on things that will (hopefully) settle them.
I was thinking that game where you take it in turns to make up parts of a story but then worried they might be too young to really get it.

Any ideas?

Just let them play on their own without you interfering would be my advice

Four is pretty young for a sleepover. Do you think they will settle? You might find yourself having a bedtime meltdown instead of needing fun activities to do!

I think a story should do it. Or maybe a film before bed. It sounds like a busy day and I don't think you'll need to overdo it by bedtime.

Wow, you're very brave!

I would do something to tire them out, like soft play or a trampoline park, then watch a short film (Gruffolo?) and them to bed.

Then pray to the sleepover gods that no one starts crying to go home at 2am.

My tip is don't do it until they are at least 8!

I wouldn’t be having a drink just in case you have to take one home. 4yo is quite young for a sleepover. Have they had one before?

MolliciousIntent · 02/12/2022 18:54

Hmmm I'd think it unlikely they'll all make it to bedtime, is there going to be someone with you who can drop them home? 4 is very young for a sleepover with friends.

One of the friends is very mature for a 4 yr old a sleeps out once a week so is fine with it.
The other may or may not be ok so her mum is gonna bring her to the cinema and pizza and then see how it goes.
My DD has had a couple of sleepovers with one of her friends staying over every few months since they were 3.
This is the first time we'll have more than one!
