I think it's lovely of you to think of both the baby and mum. I distinctly remember one person gifting me something just for me and it was such a nice gesture with all the focus usually being around baby items (because they are much more fun to buy for!)
-Cook vouchers (if they are in your budget) or any UberEATS/deliveroo type voucher would have been so welcomed
-Shower / bath items for mum. I know some people can be specific with this but I would have appreciated this as having a daily shower in the early days helped me feel normal.
-Favourite chocolate/sweets/snacks to have on hand for those night feeds. It's so hard to eat proper meals with a newborn and I needed my energy.
Socks - surely everyone loves putting on a fresh pair of new socks?! My fav are bamboo
For baby, the things we found super useful
-Nappies -we found it helpful to try out many different ones so any were well recieved (aldi ones are generally good)
-baby wipes (you go through SO many). Maybe choose water wipes if you are unsure about sensitive skin. We are lucky that we can use any with no issues.
-Calpol / neurofen (check use by dates) again, we go through a lot of this with vaccinations, teething etc
-freezable teething toys
-baby sponges
-zipped sleepsuits in every size would be helpful, particularly for night feeds when you just can't face faffing around doing poppers 😂
- not necessary but maybe a small momento with the year of birth. Someone bought us a tiny teddy from jojomaman bebe with the year & it's small enough to fit in our memory box.
- black and white toys/flashcards/books as babies can only see those shades for the first few months.
-electronic nail file
Basically when I gift presents for new mother's and babies, I try and think of all the boring stuff that would be useful & that would save them money buying in the long run🥰
