What are your NY Resolutions

Mine is to be more assertive, be healthily selfish, and free up more time. Also, do things to expand my social circle.

I've been let down a few times this year, and 3 times in the past week! It always seem to be the same thing. Someone arranges something, people agree, then drop out and I am the last one standing.

So, for example, a group of friends decided to take up a hobby. It cost £100. They set up a Whatsapp, sent round a flyer, and asked everyone to pay the money upfront. I wasn't 100% into it, but enjoyed the company, so agreed. The answer is yes, so I am committed to - right? So after the first session, a 3rd of them dropped out. Then the others dropped for non excuses. Turns out only I paid upfront, so I had to go for the rest of the course, on my own.

Another time a friend begged me to share a personal trainer with her. I wasn't fussed, but agreed. We had a trial and both said yes to 8 sessions. Then she emailed him and said no, its not for her, so I had to go on my own as I paid on y way out.

This week 3 people let me down. Someone arranged a Christmas outing, then dropped out. Another arranged to meet me in the city. I bought the train ticket (loads cheaper in advance) and she cancelled the night before. Asked my brother if he wanted to meet up, as not seen him in 2 years and I was to be in his small town for 6 hours, and he never responded.

So, yes I need to be more assertive, make better friends, and be a bit more selfish. Obviously I let people walk all over me.

How about you?

Assertiveness and boundaries are great resolutions!

I'm going to prioritise spending more on experiences than things. I'm a self-confessed shopaholic who buys things just to feel a buzz so I've started selling unworn clothes on Vinted. I'm going to pay off my store cards (about £400 between them) and resolve to use my Vinted balance to only buy clothes second hand from Vinted themselves in an attempt to reduce consumption. I can buy new shoes if needed but no other new clothes from fast fashion retailers.
